Welcome to HOSA 102: Effective Use of Technology in the Health Science
Technology Classroom and the HOSA Chapter!
This course is designed to be self-paced.
It is offered for either CEUs or three (3) hours of university credit. To
earn CEUs, participants must follow the instructions for registration by the
CEU granting institution.

The course
consists of five (5) modules. The fifth module is optional for CEU credit
and required for those seeking university credit.
Each module contains
four (4) sections:
- Objectives – List
of objectives for the module.
- Content –
Information about the topics in the module and examples of how you can use
this material in your courses.
- Readings –
Suggested Internet links for more information on a topic, and textbook
reading assignments for those students seeking university credit.
- Assignments –
Learning activities related to the module objectives. The instructor of
record will determine if assignments are to be e-mailed to the instructor
or collected in a portfolio to be submitted when the course has been
completed.

University Credit
Course participants
registered for University Credit will be required to purchase the textbook,
“Information Technology for the Health Professions.” Textbook reading
assignments will be listed for each module.
Evidence of
completion of assignments must be submitted as directed by the course
instructor, either via e-mail or portfolio. Every portfolio assignment will
be evaluated. 90% of the assignments must be completed at an acceptable
standard (as determined by the course instructor) to earn credit for the
portfolio (assignments.) Optional assignments, if completed, will provide
extra credit in the portfolio evaluation process.
At the conclusion of
the course, a 100-item multiple-choice final exam will be administered under
secure conditions. The exam will measure the objectives in the course from
material in the “content” sections of the modules and required readings.
Grades will be determined by satisfactory submission of the portfolio and
the grade earned on the final exam, based on a 10-point scale.

Next, let's go to
