NTHS Partnership


HOSA is proud to announce a partnership with the National Technical Honor Society.

In January, 2004, the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors approved a partnership with the National Technical Honor Society. The goals of the partnership are to:

  • Promote educational excellence.
  • Build a positive image for career and technical education.
  • Reward higher achievement among HOSA members.
  1. HOSA advisors who wish to participate in this partnership when NTHS chapters do not already exist in their schools will follow the written process for establishing a chapter of NTHS in their school, which includes submission of a charter application and approval from school administration.
  2. From the point of charter submission, HOSA advisors will follow the standards established by the NTHS for nominating HOSA members to be members of NTHS and advising a chapter.
  3. NTHS will award four $1000 scholarships at the HOSA National Leadership Conference beginning in June, 2009.
    1. Two scholarships will be awarded to secondary members and two to postsecondary/collegiate members.
    2. Candidates must be an active, dues-paying members of both HOSA and the NTHS in order to be eligible for the scholarships.
    3. In the event qualified postsecondary/collegiate members are not recommended by the scholarship committee, four secondary scholarships will be awarded.
    4. Applicants for this scholarship will use the HOSA Scholarship Application and participate in the established HOSA Scholarship selection process.

What is NTHS?

NTHS is the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career & technical education. Over 2000 schools and colleges throughout the U.S. and its territories are affiliated with the Society. Member schools agree that NTHS encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence, and helps top students find success in today’s highly competitive workplace.

What do students get?

NTHS members receive: the NTHS membership certificate, presentation folder, pin, card, window decal, white tassel, official NTHS diploma seal, a general letter of recommendation for the student’s portfolio, and three personal letters of recommendation for employment, college admission, or scholarships. Students will have access to our Online Career Center including the valuable services of Career Safe and Career Key.

Getting started is simple!

Just fill out the charter application form, have the head of your institution sign it, fax it to Carol Kaczmarek at 828-698-8564 and voilá! You can start rewarding excellence! There is no cost to your school to establish a charter. If you would like your charter to be framed, call for pricing.

Then what?

The next step is to establish the criteria you will use at your school. Once you receive your User ID and Password with your charter materials, you will be able to log in to the website to see and print out recommended standards, member applications, forms, scripts and more!

What does it take to be an advisor?

The role of an advisor is painless. Identify students who meet your criteria, invite them to an informational meeting, enter their information online, and hold a simple induction ceremony. We can provide a checklist of what to cover at the meeting as well as a script to use at the induction. We are also here to help you every step of the way! Just call!
