Thursday morning got off to an early start with breakfast for the Voting Delegates and National Officer Candidates. The candidates were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and answer questions from the Voting Delegates.
HOSA members started their morning with aerobic exercise and yoga at the Healthy Start to the Day session sponsored by the National Guard.
HOSA hosted a second Newcomers Coffee Talk providing local advisors an opportunity to visit with HOSA staff and gain insight into the organization.
With pencils sharpened, competitors in several events gathered to begin their competitions with orientation and written tests. Meanwhile, team competitors gathered around HOSA bulletin boards to see if they would advance to round two.

Outstanding HOSA Chapter
Approximately 200 judges arrived during the day to attend their event orientations and judge various competitions. HOSA is extremely thankful to the judges who volunteer their time to ensure each competitor has a fair opportunity in each competition.
HOSA was proud to offer 23 Educational Symposiums on Thursday. Educational Symposiums further classroom education for both HOSA members and advisors and are great tools to learn about real world issues from healthcare professionals. Examples of Thursday’s Educational Symposiums included Anatomy in Clay, Autism Speaks, A Music Therapy Experience and Leadership in the U.S. Army.
Local Chapter leaders sharpened their leadership skills at HOSA Leadership University 201 and HOSA members who have never been an officer attended HOSA’s Leadership University 101 focusing on basic HOSA knowledge and leadership principles.
At 3 p.m. the Voting Delegates, National Officer candidates and HOSA members met for the business session. The session gave National Officer candidates an opportunity to speak before the final votes were cast. Voting concluded at 5 p.m. and the results will be announced Friday evening at the Recognition Session. HOSA would like to wish all of the candidates Good Luck! Voting Delegates also had the opportunity to vote on next year’s conference theme and national service project.
HOSA members had the opportunity to display this year’s accomplishments at the HOSA Showcase featuring chapter newsletters, MRC partnerships, heath education displays, clinical specialty displays, and Outstanding HOSA Chapter scrapbooks.
Thursday was an exhausting day of competition for many delegates, but the HOSA spirit remained strong as delegates met new friends and enjoyed Orlando!
