RULES TO REMEMBER
- For all written tests, it is the responsibility of the competitor to bring pencils for the event.
- At the national level, competitors may compete in ONE EVENT ONLY in Categories I-IV. They may participate in multiple events in Category V.
- Individual and team participants in national competition must have competed in the same competitive event at the state level for which they are entered at the national level. This competition must have taken place in the school year immediately preceding the HOSA NLC. [Exception to this rule: Kaiser Permanente Healthcare Issues Exam, substitutes or additions to team events, and Category V events.]
- There will be no study materials allowed in any holding rooms.
- Students must be appropriately dressed for BOTH the test and the skill event. (Clothing considered appropriate for the skill event will be allowed for the test.)
CLARIFICATION OF “PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS ATTIRE”
Professional Business Attire has nothing to do with the brand labels in your clothes, beauty, good looks, or sex appeal. Simple, common sense will tell you how to dress for your events. You are what you wear. Avoid trendy fashions. Remember that you are dressing to appeal to the judge, not for your date or peers. When in doubt, wear something else!
Jeans CANNOT be worn to any competitive event or event orientation.
Conference Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones must be turned off during all HOSA functions, including all General Sessions, workshops, receptions, and any other scheduled HOSA activity.
Competitors MAY NOT bring cell phones to any HOSA competitive event or event orientation. Any competitor who violates this rule is subject to disqualification from the event. Judge cell phones and pagers must be turned off during competitive events.
