SIX
FLAGS OVER TEXAS
Spend the day at one of the nation's top
amusement attractions, Six Flags Over Texas. This 205-acre park
features more than 100 rides, shows and games divided into the
six "flag" areas representing
various countries which at one time claimed Texas.
Visit Mexico, France, Spain, the Republic of Texas, the Old South
and the United States while enjoying thriller rides such as Splashwater
Falls, Judge Roy Scream roller coaster, the Texas Chute-Out, Runaway
Mine Train and the Shock Wave. For those who like to live on the
edge, fasten your seatbelts for a ride on the Texas Giant, the world's
largest and fastest wooden roller coaster, and the Flashback, a roller
coaster that fires you forward through twists and turns - and then
reverses itself backward along the track.
In addition, while at the park, you can enjoy performances at the
Southern Palace and the Hollywood Stunt Show, even a live gunfight
in the Texas section, and there are dozens of eateries to choose
from and plenty of places to purchase souvenirs on your own.
DALLAS LANDMARK TOUR
DALLAS! A city with such unique character,
distinct flavor and sharp contrasts could never really be captured
by a television show. This tour explores the hidden treasures and
history of "Big D" -
the "real" Dallas - from its frontier settlement infancy
to emergence as one of the nation's most dynamic and thriving cities.
Downtown Dallas also holds many treasures
from its' past, including
several architectural marvels. Among the more colorful and historic
buildings remaining are the Romanesque "Old Red" courthouse,
the Belo Mansion (site of Bonnie and Clyde's funeral wake), the original
Neiman Marcus department store and the Magnolia Oil building
- topped by the symbol of Dallas - Pegasus, the winged horse.
Next, we will take a look at Pioneer Plaza
where slowly and majestically a herd of Longhorn cattle ascends
down a rocky bluff to a babbling brook. Their progress is watched
and directed by three mounted cowboys. It’s a cattle drive from Dallas’ past,
struck in larger-than-life bronze for the enjoyment and education
of generations to come.
While in downtown we will drive by one
of the world’s most
famous and influential stores, the original Neiman Marcus. This
flagship store has hosted celebrities such as Princess Grace and
Lady Bird Johnson, and you will experience the same elegance during
this shopping excursion.
The tour will continue downtown. Internationally
recognized architect I.M. Pei has contributed several distinctive
buildings to Dallas' dramatic new skyline (described as the "best" by
Esquire Magazine), including the First Interstate Bank, City Hall
and the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Other significant buildings
are the 72-story NationsBank Plaza, Trammell Crow Center, Thanksgiving
Square, Renaissance Tower and the Texas Commerce Bank Tower. There
will be a short stop at the Fountainplace for photos.
HURRICANE HARBOR
For those who want to have some fun in the sun, you can enjoy acres
of watery fun at Hurricane Harbor. The chilling water slides
will cool you off on a hot summer day, so bring your sun screen and
get ready for a Wet 'n' Wild day!
Hurricane Harbor offers fun for everyone. Get ready for some
invigorating thrills in the new themed area called Boogie Beach! Come
and experience a new action-packed, water-thrilling adventure of
surfing the wave. Riders surf on a simulated wave created
by water rushing at 24,000 gallons per minute. Just like a
real ocean wave!
Experience the Black Hole, two tentacle-like tubes, each 500 feet
long, twist from a black flying saucer or speed down the Shotgun
Falls four high-speed slides, side-by-side, blast gallons of water
per minute through and land you in a refreshing pool.
For the adventurous; seven stories of wild
water await you…Simply climb the seven-story tower; select
the north slide; then lie down and drop into a free-fall experience.
This leaves even the most seasoned thrill sliders breathless.

JFK - NOVEMBER
22-24, 1963
Where were you when you first heard that President John F. Kennedy
had been shot?
Return to that moment in time and re-examine
the critical events at the actual locations where the "Crime of the Century" was
committed. This presentation will focus on the paths of President
Kennedy, alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and Dallas nightclub
owner Jack Ruby - three men whose lives tragically converged in Dallas
and changed the course of history.
Begin with a visit to the acclaimed "Sixth Floor Exhibit" housed
in the former Texas School Book Depository Building. The Kennedy
family, presidency and legacy are chronicled throughout the museum
in hundreds of photographs, several audio-visual displays and two
short films. Two important "crime scene" areas within the
building also have been preserved as originally discovered by law
enforcement officials moments after the assassination.
A detailed walking tour through Dealey
Plaza will follow and reveal precise locations of key witnesses.
You will stand on the infamous "Grassy
Knoll" where Dallas resident Abraham Zapruder filmed his much-studied
8mm home movie of the president's fateful motorcade. This area remains
the focal point of every major investigation into the assassination
and is featured extensively in academy-award winning director Oliver
Stone's motion picture, "JFK."
The focus then shifts to Lee Harvey Oswald
and his movements immediately after the shooting in Dealey Plaza.
You will follow the accused assassin from the Book Depository to
his Oak Cliff rooming house. Retrace his steps through the adjoining
neighborhood site where Dallas patrolman J.D. Tippitt was murdered and on to the historic Texas Theatre
where Oswald's dramatic capture will be detailed.
Finally, Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby
will be profiled. This elusive figure, who may have silenced forever
the truth concerning
the assassination, is closely examined, especially his movements
from the downtown Carousel Club to the basement of the Dallas Police
Station where he shot Oswald in front of a national television audience.
What really happened during those three
days in November? You have seen the locations and heard the evidence.
Judge for yourself.
GALLERIA SHOPPING

the city’s largest and most popular malls: the Galleria. The
Galleria features a variety of specialty shops and couture houses
situated around a spectacular ice skating rink. Stroll through

Macy’s, as well as, retail legends such as Tiffany & Company
and Louis Vuitton. Specialty items can be found at Kate Spade,
Juicy Couture, Banana Republic and Ylang123.
While at the Galleria you will have time to enjoy lunch on your
own at one of the many restaurants. Enjoy a light snack at
Corner Bakery, Mexican food at Mi Cocina, Barbeque at Sonny Bryans,
or fresh croissants at La Madeleine to name a few.

animals to visit, and a huge variety of family activities, the
Dallas Zoo is enormously entertaining! Your visit will be an exciting

research to protect and preserve endangered species. The Dallas
Zoo was founded in 1888, making it the first zoological park in
the Southwest. The park covers 95 developed acres! In terms of
landmass, it’s the largest zoological park in Texas.
The giant giraffe sculpture marking the Zoo’s entrance is 67½ feet
tall!

This state of the art experience will allow you to see more than
1,600 exotic animals, like the zebra, okapis and the aviary filled
with colorful birds.

game” animals are waiting.

variety of animals and is involved in conservation and breeding

recognized for their outstanding Lacerte Family Children’s
