2015 Public Health Leadership Seminars

The Division of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps was recently moved from the Office of the Surgeon General to the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR).  This is most exciting for HOSA-Future Health Professionals as we now have the opportunity to be recognized by not only the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General but also the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response.  After presenting HOSA to the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, Captain Tosatto found considerable enthusiasm and support for the internship (to be called the Public Health Leadership Seminar going forward) and also NLC 2015.  We are most pleased that Captain Tosatto will lead an entourage of colleagues to Anaheim.

The Public Health Leadership Seminars, hosted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, are available to HOSA-Future Health Professionals members, students, alumni and advisors, who are interested in learning about public health while interacting with leading professionals within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Office of the U.S. Surgeon General (OSG) and the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS). For a short period of time, participants are able to experience first-hand the mission of HHS, ASPR, and the OSG, as well as responsibilities carried out by USPHS officers.
