South Dakota State Secretary Receives Honors

South Dakota state HOSA secretary and Harrisburg High School HOSA president, Manaal Ali, has been chosen to represent South Dakota as a delegate to the 54th annual United States Senate Youth Program. Manaal was chosen based off of a competitive, merit-based program that brings 104 of the most outstanding high school students to Washington, D.C. for a week-long study. During her experience in the "Capital City", she will learn more about the federal government and meet the people who lead it.

Additionally, Manaal has been selected as a 2016 Coca-Cola Scholar. After a long application process, countless essays, and an interview, she was selected as one of the 150 from a pool of over 87,000 applicants! Along with an all-expenses-paid trip to Atlanta, Georgia, she will be receiving $20,000 to help pay for her college tuition.

She is very thankful for the opportunities she’s been granted and looks forward to using them to learn, excel, and give back to her local community.
