CVS Health: One Choice Changes Everything

Across the country, many lives in the communities we serve are being touched by the opioid abuse epidemic. One in four teens have misused or abused prescription drugs once in their lifetime, with most getting them from a family’s medicine cabinet. The problem is a complex one, with many causes and challenges, but CVS Health and HOSA are working hard to address the effects of prescription drug abuse and prevent it from affecting more lives.

CVS Health is focused on preventing teen drug abuse through the Pharmacists Teach program. This program raises awareness about the dangers of prescription drug abuse and reinforces the choices that teenagers make have major consequences in their lives. The message,"one choice changes everything," reinforces that the decisions teens make today about drugs can affect their entire lives.  Learn more about CVS Health Outreach Program.

The Pharmacists Teach program connects local pharmacists with HOSA chapters and high school health education classes to share vital information about the dangers of drug use.  CVS pharmacists have already delivered this impactful program to more than 15,000 students across the country, and the feedback from administrators and students has been overwhelmingly positive. HOSA advisors and school administrators can contact CVS Health to request a Pharmacists Teach workshop at your school by emailing Angela Nelson, RPh, Senior Manager, Professional Pharmacy Practices, at pharmaciststeach@cvshealth.com.
