HOSA Announces 2016 Public Health Leadership Seminar Attendees

HOSA—Future Health Professionals is pleased to announce the 2016 Public Health Leadership Seminar participants.  The week-long seminar is hosted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) with support from the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General (OSG) and the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS).  

Delaware HOSA at USA Science and Engineering Festival

Delaware HOSA recently represented HOSA at the USA Science and Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C on April 16-17.  Delaware HOSA taught festival-goers about the mission of HOSA-Future Health Professionals and provided some hands-on learning with sheep eyes and heart and a pig's lung.

Congratulations to Covington High School HOSA and Maquoketa High School HOSA

Two outstanding HOSA chapters will be recognized for MRC Youth Engagement Awards this month. The MRC Youth Engagement Award honors MRC units that have successfully promoted the utilization of youth in their local mission. They also provided young people with opportunities to participate in public health, preparedness, or response activities.

HOSA-Future Health Professionals Reaches 200,000 Members!

HOSA-Future Health Professionals, the largest international organization for middle school, high school, and postsecondary/collegiate students with an interest in health professions, is excited to announce that it has reached its goal of 200,000 members in over 4,000 chapters for the 2015-2016 school year. HOSA has chapters in 48 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, and at Department of Defense Education Activity schools on military bases in Italy and Germany.

Southlake, TX--On Friday, STEM Premier released the annual national ranking of top 100 STEM high school students.  The list is comprised of high-achieving juniors and seniors from across the country with STEM Premier profiles that were rated and ranked the highest based on over 30 profile metrics including achievements, experiences, and more.  The final selection includes Presidential Service Award Winners, National Merit Scholars, Girl Scouts, and members of associations such as HOSA, 4-H, FBLA, DECA, and more.

South Dakota state HOSA secretary and Harrisburg High School HOSA president, Manaal Ali, has been chosen to represent South Dakota as a delegate to the 54th annual United States Senate Youth Program.

Goodheart-Willcox Outstanding Service Award

Goodheart-Willcox Publisher strongly believes in the HOSA mission and is honored to be a partner in educating and training today’s young people to be tomorrow’s health professionals. As a result, Goodheart-Willcox will recognize three local HOSA chapter advisors, one from each HOSA region, who have made outstanding contributions of local, regional, state and/or national significance to the promotion, development, and progress of HOSA–Future Health Professionals with an unrestricted cash award of $2000 each.
