Southlake, TX--On Friday, STEM Premier released the annual national ranking of top 100 STEM high school students.  The list is comprised of high-achieving juniors and seniors from across the country with STEM Premier profiles that were rated and ranked the highest based on over 30 profile metrics including achievements, experiences, and more.  The final selection includes Presidential Service Award Winners, National Merit Scholars, Girl Scouts, and members of associations such as HOSA, 4-H, FBLA, DECA, and more.

Goodheart-Willcox Publisher strongly believes in the HOSA mission and is honored to be a partner in educating and training today’s young people to be tomorrow’s health professionals. As a result, Goodheart-Willcox will recognize three local HOSA chapter advisors, one from each HOSA region, who have made outstanding contributions of local, regional, state and/or national significance to the promotion, development, and progress of HOSA–Future Health Professionals with an unrestricted cash award of $2000 each.

Verizon Innovative App Challenge

This national competition is for all middle and high school students to come up with a mobile app idea that will creatively solve a problem in their school or community.  There is no cost to enter and no coding experience or devices are needed.  Winning teams will receive mobile devices, up to $20,000 for their school, and the opportunity to be coached by MIT Media Lab professionals to build their app and bring it to Google Play store.  The winning students retain intellectual property rights to their app.

Middle School Division - Unique Experience to Help Young Students Connect, Be Informed and Visualize Being a Future Health Professional

The Three Doctors Foundation Walkathon

On July 25th, Region III Vice President, Akshar Patel attended the Healthy Mind and Body Walkathon hosted by the Three Doctors Foundation. The three doctors hosting the event were Dr. George Jenkins, Dr. Rameck Hunt, and the 2015 National Leadership Conference keynote speaker, Dr. Sampson Davis! Akshar was accompanied by two New Jersey HOSA State Officers, Sneha Rangu and Aditya Madduluri; the three members then set out to explore the coupling of health awareness and fitness.
